Boutique Memory Care in Rockford, Illinois – Opening Fall 2027

Small Homes.
Big Heart.

Palmstone Memory Care is a different kind of dementia care: a real home on a quiet 9-acre campus, where just 16 grandmas and grandpas are intimately cared for and deeply known. Construction is underway on our first home and we anticipate opening in the Fall of 2027.

Small Homes.
Big Heart.

Our philosophy

Named for the stone held for comfort.

A palmstone is a smooth, worn pebble — something small and solid you hold for reassurance. That feeling of steadiness is what we build into every room, every routine, and every relationship at Palmstone Memory Care.

Our co-founders Greg Vass and Michael Kromm created Palmstone after Greg’s journey caring for his mother through her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. The available options — large, clinical facilities — couldn’t offer the warmth, familiarity, and deep personal connection that dementia care truly demands. So we built the alternative on a 9-acre campus in Cherry Valley, Illinois.

Not a facility. A small home, with a big heart.

What We Offer

Everything a family needs, in one place.

The need is here

Rockford-area families
deserve a better option.

Nearly 7 million Americans live with Alzheimer’s today, including roughly 5,900 in our own community — and Illinois cases are projected to grow 13% in the years ahead. Yet almost every local option is a large institutional facility.

Palmstone brings the boutique, small-home model to northern Illinois: fewer residents, more caregivers, and care that feels like family. Learn how to choose memory care or read our FAQ.

“Memory care shouldn’t feel like an institution. It should feel like a home—steady, comforting, and deeply personal.”

— GREG VASS, CO-FOUNDER, PALMSTONE MEMORY CARE
